Fungi - Peziza Vesiculosa

I nearly missed this fungus. It was only because I decided to weed round the rhubarb plants that I noticed this fungus which I believe to be Peziza Vesiculosa - if anyone knows better, please correct me.

There were two of the fungi growing out of the woodchip used as a mulch. The first picture shows one plant in situ. The second is a close-up of the other plant. More pictures can be seen in the Fungi section of the environment photo gallery.

Foggy Morning

Tuesday was a foggy morning this week. Before I went to work I had time to get out into the garden and the lane alongside our property to take a few photographs. Below is a small selection:

This first picture is the front garden from the house. It shows how dull and monochromatic everything was.

The second image was taken in the garden looking back to the house. The fog is not too deep as you can see the blue colour in the sky.

This view is looking east along the tarmac'ed portion of the lane. The contrast was quite high and the sky tended to burn out to white.

For this fourth photograph I tried to capture the trunks of the trees, but the branches were too low for the effect I wanted.

This view is looking west along the unmade portion of the lane. Again I had difficulties with the contrast.

This final photograph is of one of a number of spiders' webs, dripping in condensation. There is a lot of fine detail on the original.
